Independence and mobility in later life
Healthy Ageing and Active Living Programmes
Individual exercise programmes are planned to preserve mobility, balance and muscle strength in later life, supporting an active way of living.
Growing older does not mean giving up mobility. Muscle strength, balance and movement capacity can be improved at any age, and regular, well-planned exercise is the most effective way to do it.
What does the programme target?
- Muscle strength — staying independent in daily activity
- Balance — reducing the risk of falls
- Range of motion — keeping the joints working
- Endurance — tiring less through the day
- Confidence — not being hesitant about moving
Planned around you
The programme is planned taking account of your current physical capacity, any long-term conditions, the medication you take and your own goals. Difficulty is increased gradually and the programme is reassessed at regular intervals.
Our aim is not only to reduce pain, but to support a way of living in which you move with confidence, keep your independence and take more pleasure in life at every stage.
